The Sheraton hotel in Springfield, MA has been a redesign project and labor of love for many years. It is one of those projects that we renovated sections at a time, with a view towards an entire renovation, that is finally complete years later. Here is the video, that has been added to Starwood’s site that showcases our work!
This is a wonderful hotel, perfect location, and terrific service. It is a unique property because the center is an atrium and the rooms built down triangular hallways. The public space is mostly on the second floor where you will find the restaurant, lounge, meeting rooms, business “LINK” center and pre-function spaces. The Banquet facilities are mostly on the third floor.
This hotel was redesigned in a more typical fashion for years prior. We did three or four floors at a time, and we worked with Starwood and gained approval for each phase of our work. The overall flow is the same, the color scheme sensational, and very New England, but the phases of the project led to different selections of furniture, finishes and décor. Different from other brands, Starwood does not like any of their flag properties done in original designs. This proved more difficult for us than most projects, because at the time each phase was ready for review, Starwood was in a different design phase for their next launch which was not quite ready for prime time. So, we had to go back many times for approval and reworking. But, the end result, is a lovely hotel, that speaks well to its’ Massachusetts location in a city like Springfield, along Route 91, and near the Six Flags amusement park and Basketball Hall of Fame. The clientele ranges from business professionals to families with young children. It is harder to design for the mix use properties. The end result is terrific though and invite you to stop there and see for yourself.
The most amazing part of the redesign of the Sheraton hotel in Springfield is the original photographs of autumn leaves hanging throughout the property. The artwork is very special and beautiful to look at. It truly offers a “WOW” factor to the decor. I can’t tell you how many times I have been there and wandered through the halls looking at the pictures and being transported to other places in my memories.
Fun project to do, and great place to stay – hope you get to visit there and see for yourself!
